This June, Go Brazil, Go FIFA

With less than two months from the Brasilia FIFA World Cup 2014, it’s time you did all your planning right if you wish to make it there in time and have a lot of fun. FIFA World Cup is the biggest sports event on the planet and attracts crowds if enthusiasts and football lovers from all over the world. Making it to such a huge event will need a lot of planning and advance bookings so you don’t get stuck and don’t have to settle for just anything, though the event might as well be worth it. Booking tickets, hotels, flights, etc. must be done as soon as possible and a lot will depend on how long you wish to stay and which matches you plan to attend. Brasil FIFA 2014 The FIFA World Cup 2014 starts on 12 June 2014 and the final match for the event will be played on 13 July 2014. This month long event is hugely popular across the globe and all the booking processes for hotels, flights as well as the sports events have already started quite some time ago. So if you haven’t already done so, it’s time you planned your trip now before it is too late. The country is huge. The initial three games in the group stage will be played in 12 different cities, which are spread all across the huge country of Brazil. And then, there would be one additional game in each of the 12 cities.

This brings down the sub-totals as follows:

  • Cuiaba, Curitiba, Manaus and NatalFour games
  • Belo Horizonte, Porto Alegre and RecifeFive games
  • Fortaleza, Salvador and Sau PauloSix games
  • Brasilia and Rio de JaneiroSeven games including the finals and the final consolation.

Start your planning by visiting the Official FIFA website to get all the details like the schedules, accommodation lists, ticket prices, etc. The U.S. is in Group G. It will play its first game on June 16 versus Ghana in Natal. The second match will be on June 22 versus Portugal in Manaus and its third game would be on June 26 versus Germany in Recife. If the U.S. team makes it through the third round then the next match would be either in Porto Alegre on June 30 or in Salvador on July 1.

Brazilian Visa

One of the first things you need to think about and apply for is the Brazilian visa. You can apply for Express Visa Services, which despite being a little on the pricier side, ensures that you receive the visa quickly. A Brazil visa generally costs around $200-300, but the prices may vary. The normal visa processing time is 2-3 weeks.

Expenditure Planning

Brazil is by no means a poor country and they have a really strong currency. A stay of around seven days in Brazil could cost minimum $5000-7000, considering it would be peak tourist season. You would have to account for travel, hotel or hostel booking, flights, rooming, food, some night life and entertainment, match tickets, etc. so you better plan your expenses accordingly.

Booking your flights

As we said earlier, the FIFA World Cup is the world’s biggest sporting event and draws crowds from across the world. This would make flight tickets difficult with each passing day as the event day nears. So, book your tickets as soon as possible, or you might be stuck with a ‘No more seats available’.

Hotel/Hostel Bookings

Once you have arranged for means to reach Brazil, you need to look for accommodation. Research online as much as possible and decide on at least two to three options for accommodation. As the time to the event reduces, prices will keep shooting up here as well, and availability would keep decreasing. You can visit some websites online that will help you discover some vacation rentals that would help you get some good and liveable accommodation that wouldn’t be so insanely priced or over-crowded with all the football enthusiasts. When looking for accommodation, one thing you must keep in mind is to look for places with internet access or cable TV. This is not so you can stay in touch with everyone over Facebook or not miss out on your favorite soap, but so that you can keep a track of and enjoy the matches that are happening in the other cities while you are in the other city following a certain match, considering you can’t be everywhere at the same time.

Extra-match activities

Unlike the other sporting events the Brazil FIFA World Cup has nothing going on at the same venue all the time. This will give you a lot of time to roam around and explore. So plan some sight-seeing and extra-time activities or even just a random shopping spree and pack accordingly. Leave some space in your luggage for all the goodies and souvenirs you will buy. You can even enjoy the local cuisine, or just go on a photography spree with your camera. One good tip for you could be to invite as many friends and neighbors and family over, so you can book the tickets, etc in large numbers. This could help push down your costs and also ensure that you have a lot of fun. Considering the date right now, you might already late for getting the best deals. Rope in a travel agent to simply your job and help you get the best last minute deals possible. No matter what your reason for the delay in planning, the gouge is working and bookings are scarce and expensive. Chances are however, that with the event looming hotels and flights might discover that nobody wanted to pay their inflated insane price and drop down their prices dramatically and you might end up gaining and bagging some really awesome deals. But with an event like FIFA World Cup, nothing is really too much, because after all its FIFA World Cup!
