Barra de Navidad lies near the border of the states of Jalisco and Colima of Mexico and to the south of Puerto Vallarta. The town is covered by mountains with remarkable beaches to relax and shake off all the exhaustion.
The region of Barra de Navidad is now gaining popularity amongst the tourists, but the major part of it still remains to be discovered. Let’s explore what one can indulge in this town.
A lone explorer can consider visiting the coastal villages to experience the local way of living. Watch how the fishermen start their day and catch their daily bread-the fishes. A folk dance festival is held every year in March, so visitors can participate and learn more about the culture of the region.
Why watch the fishermen catch fish from a distance? You can try your hand at fishing the marlin, swordfish, tuna or other species with some helping by the fishermen. If you are in a group, find some sport fishing tour group that arranges short charter trips in boats for a lengthier fishing expedition. The annual Mexico fishing tournament, the Marline and Dorado is held between May and June and in September and hence be prepared to have a feast of delicious seafood.
Adventurers can catch hold of water sports activities like scuba diving, snorkeling near the coral reefs and watch the marine life or simply swim in the calm beach waters of Tenacatita Beach before having a heavy meal. Alternatively, a game of golf at a golf course with the locals can help make friends amidst a comfortable retreat.
A disco dance is held regularly at the Jarro Beach of Barra de Navidad after the sunset. Youngsters will surely be fascinated by the music as they dance with their friends with the cool ocean breeze flowing by.
This seacoast town has popular seafood available for the visitors. Fresh oysters, shrimp, scrumptious fish curry and dishes with excellent service are always at hand. A waterfront restaurant-the ‘Fortino’ opposite the lagoon is an all time favorite for the visitors when it comes to serving seafood. Book a boat to and from the lagoon in advance.
So the next time, you set off for your vacation in Mexico and have a day to spare, head off to this less unexplored destination known as the Barra de Navidad for a lazy retreat.
