Whether you have a vacation rental property already or setting up a new one to be rented for the first time, there’s a lot of thinking to be done. You’ll need to think about a lot of aspects before you start decorating the property. It’s always advisable to create a place that is not only relaxing and comfortable but also appealing at the same time.

4. Make it feel like home | |
5. Create a checklist for your renters |
Precisely the most important factor is to keep your rental property clean and tidy. Nobody wants to get into a place which is dirty. Your guests should not feel like cleaning the place by themselves – that’s not a good 1st impression. If you don’t have the time to do it yourself, hire a professional cleaning service provider to thoroughly clean up the entire property before your next renter starts his/her stay. Adding to that, it’s perfectly alright to ask your renters to quickly clean up before they leave.
Well, as we mentioned before – we have to make your property stand out from the rest. How would you be able to do that within a tight budget (if any). You can either add some of your own style or ask for help from friends and family. Hanging decorative items on the wall, some nice wall paintings, or even a nice theme based color scheme can make a difference. The place should have a personality of its own and at the same time must be comfortable and relaxing for the renters.
It is very important that you have all the required supplies that your renters might need if they want to prepare a meal at home. Keeping extra light bulbs and cleaning supplies is a wise thing to do as they might come in handy when required. In case your area gets unexpected power outages, you must keep candles and flashlights and also inform your renters about it. Don’t forget to stock an extra propane tank and plenty of water.
Your place should feel like a home away from home. Bedroom is that part of the house where they want to just crash and relax. Offering towels and bed linens is completely your choice. However, it would be a great idea to offer them to your guests as they might be travelling from afar. At the same time, do offer plenty of storage space to your renters for their belongings. Make sure the air conditioning systems are working properly and the vents are cleared of any dirt or dust. Get all the repairs done before hand.
It is always a great idea to create and list of your personal recommendations on local tours, sight-seeing spots and things to do in and around the area. At the same time, the list should also include emergency contact information of hospitals, pharmacies as well as numbers of repair agency in case there is some repair work to be done.
If you have a rental property and want to make sure it remains great, follow the tips above and enjoy having happy renters.
