Despite being so centrally located, the building & apartment is peaceful & quiet, making it the perfect location for a business trip or vacation.
Many points of historic interest are nearby, including the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, the ruins of the Roman Wall that surrounded the ancient Roman city of “Londinium”, London Bridge, etc. Being located in ‘The City’, or financial district, that provides the home for such institutions as Lloyds of London & the Bank of England, the area is extremely well-patrolled & safe. Due to the flat’s proximity to the underground station you can quickly be near any major attraction that does not happen to be in walking distance: Buckingham Palace, Churchill’s War Rooms, Whitehall, Parliament, Big Ben, Kensington Palace, Trafalgar Square, the Theatre District, etc.
Just across the street, in addition to the Tower of London, is All Hallows by the Tower, a church built in Saxon times that has import for American as well as British history – William Penn, the founder of Pennsylvania, was baptized in the church as an infant & John Quincy Adams, America’s 6th President & son of John Adams, America’s 2nd President, was married there in 1797, just after his father succeeded George Washington to the presidency. Underneath the church is a 2,000 year old Roman road, as well as Roman, Saxon & Norman artifacts.
There are many pubs & restaurants within a 1-2 minute walk. There is a Wetherspoons pub on the ground floor of my building, as well as a French restaurant (Chez Gerard). Also nearby is La Rueda – a Spanish tapas restaurant across the street, an Indian restaurant, an Asian noodle place (Wagamama), a Pizza Express restaurant, a Subway sandwich shop, & a couple of small family-owned cafes all within a 2 minute walk. If you’re willing to walk a bit further, you will find a seemingly endless supply of restaurants.
One not to miss is Dickens Inn (from whose rafters pirates used to be hung, so legend has it) at St Katherine’s Dock Marina, a 5-6 minute walk east. The marina boasts many quaint cafes, shops & restaurants of all price ranges. For Starbucks fans, one of the world’s most beautiful Starbucks is located in the middle of the marina.
Also nearby (meaning a 15 min walk or less) is St Paul’s Cathedral, Southwark Cathedral (where Shakespeare worshipped), the Borough Market, Sir Francis Drake’s ship the Golden Hinde (in which he circumnavigated the globe from 1577-1580), the Tate Modern Museum, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, etc.
This is a 1 bedroom flat & is perfect for a single or couple, but can also accommodate a small family, if necessary, for a maximum of 5 persons. There is a UK Double bed upstairs (similar in size to a US Queen). Downstairs there is a large, comfy sofa which is six foot two inches between armrests & which makes up nicely into a twin/single bed to accommodate 1 person. 2 more persons can be accommodated on a US$400 queen size “Aero-Bed” (an expensive type of air mattress). (I need to emphasize that, at 500 square feet, the most the flat can accommodate is a small family of up to 5 persons – it is simply too small to be used to a group of 5 adults.)
The flat is equipped with a microwave, oven & stove/hob, fridge & freezer, coffee maker, toaster, etc., W/D, plasma TV & DVD player, DVD library, CD/tape player/radio, CD music library, small book library, secure video entryphone, & wi-fi. Included are all linens, towels, & cutlery. The flat also has an iron & ironing board, hair dryer, & electricity voltage converters, and free phone calls from the flat to the US, Canada, Australia, NZ & most of Europe.

Rental rates are US$220/night and US$1,420/week in low season, and US$280/night and US$1,840/week in high season. Those rates are based upon occupancy by 1-2 persons. For each additional person, there will be an additional charge of US$20/night and US$120/week.
There is a cleaning fee of US$100, but no further taxes or fees. The refundable damage deposit is US$350. 50% of the total rental fee is required to reserve dates.
In case of cancellation, 100% of the rental deposit will be refunded if I am able to fill the dates you had reserved.
